As train 216 readies to depart Chama, there is activity over by the 483.

Interesting note is that 463 is simmering away just at the door of the east stall. This puts it in position to be used to pull on the 483 if they want to do that.

If the Ol' Gal is in fact stuck, using '63 to break her loose will have to be done with a whole lot of caution. There is a very real risk of spinning. Lots of caution, lots of sand.

I don't think it's stuck since they have already move her at least 10+ feet.

Yup. about one revolution of the drivers. If they were turning. Something stopped progress yesterday and we sitting up here in the bleachers can only speculate.

PS: If the plan is to move it down by the oil racks for continued cosmetics, then '63 could be standing by to push it into place.

Earlier this morning they cut a length of rail from the pile and took it over where they are working.

Jay is reporting that they tried to move it and "rolled a tie", (probably a rail) and the trailing truck went on the ground. The shop crew is working on the track putting in a temporary connection to that section of rail. Hopefully it will move easily over at the oil loading rack as we are working there in E.

It looks to me that 463 has moved out onto the shoofly.

Interesting from what John said, that may explain why they moved all the MoW equipment and tank cars from the Gramps track.

463 has now moved back into the house.

483 Now moved forward again -- quick sped up video of the move.

Earlier a worker came to the ash pit, grabbed the hose and equipment for cleaning at the ash pit, and it seems they must have cleaned out 463 ashes some during this video -- can they do that over there?

Well I know at one point 463 was enveloped in what I thought was steam and smoke but now it could have been blown ash.

Poor 463 is a bit stuck. If they've removed rail she can't get to the ash pit, and can't go out the back unless they move 488 out of the way, I guess you need to get rid of the ashes somehow. I assume they can water the tender from over there as well.

Yeah, they have hoses and that is probably how they get water into the tenders at the beginning of the season.

Note now that the digger is busy working between the 483 and the house. No clue but wonder if they have given up on the move and are putting back the regular track. To go with that the 483 is just about back in its original position behind the 492.

Interesting - I was hoping they would put a switch back in. Building a shoofly for just one move seems like a lot of work and then pull right back out again. Maybe somebody knows better what the strategy is here?
