Dave Ferro is a one man team this session. He's working on the car inspectors house at Cumbres. Here are some shots of inside and outside the inspectors house.

Dave is in the reconstructed out buildings. This area was used for coal.

This is the outhouse. Notice it's a three seater.

The current issue is to stabilize the south wall section of the inspectors house. This wall was opened up in the past to work on autos in the house.

The interior is two story however it still needs a lot of work.

Rolled roofing is being added to protect the buildings for winter.

A view from the south looking north toward the outbuildings. These were ruins prior to restoration. Notice the bark beetle damage on the conifers in the background.

Here are some more photos of the car inspectors house. There's likely some work to be done next year. So if someone is thinking of getting involved with a cool project, I think the car inspectors house is it. ;-)

Thanks Joe. If there aren't any IT-related projects (not likely), I'll add this to my list of potential projects to sign up for.

Jason, Dave and Laura Ferro have worked up on the pass for years, and this summer Bob Conroy did alot of working repairing the west wall. The problem getting photos in there is that much wood for future work sessions are stacked in each room, and with the window shutters closed it is darker than the inside of a cow inside.

Dave was my first team leader back in 01, and I enjoyed getting to work with him again. But that is what you will find out. You come out the first time for being there doing your part to help perserve NG history. You keep coming back because you enjoy working with the people.
