WORK SESSION B - May 30, 2013 - PART I
Posted: Thu May 30, 2013 7:14 pmMuch activity still very evident in both Chama and Antonito as Work Session B is winding down! Tomorrow is the last day of this work session, and volunteers are to be commended on excellent progress, as shown in the following photos:
- Dan Sandt and George Trever work on installing hand rail on the "Cinder Bear" rider gondola!
- Marshall Smith and George Davies, in the Nut and Bolt Car, get more bolts for the rider gondola project.
- Seat brackets are being installed on the side of the rider gondola.
- Ted Kazmar installs more seat brackets; George Davies is in the far end of the rider gon.
- TL Spero Bettalico and Carol Mackey are inside the current tool car. The new tool car should be finished in a later 2013 work session.
- Dona Kazmar weeds the edge of the Chama garden area.
- Yet another new set of steps into a reefer has been built by Carpentry Shop TL Len Jones; the new ones are much safer than the ones being replaced.
- Fred Pitroff puts primer on the blocks that will hold the clerestory screens in place; Cook Car #053 was rebuilt in the late 1980's and the screens were all rebuilt. Except for being dirty, they are in excellent condition and will be cleaned up, painted and reinstalled during a later work session.
- Photo of the underside of the new tongue and groove roof of the restored Cook Car. It will be painted during a later 2013 work session.
- TL Craig McMullen installs an inside "grab iron" in the Cook Car. Originally, there was a door at this location for grabbing mail sacks when the car was an RPO.
