WORK SESSION B - Friday, May 31, 2013 - Part I

Unread postby Ted Smith » Fri May 31, 2013 6:38 pm

The volunteers are packed up and heading to their respective destinations; we didn't even hear one "TGIF" out of anyone! They were working to complete their projects, and proud of their products!

Work session "break" lasts until Monday, June 17th - then, the sound of the dinner bell at noon will once again be heard!

Photos follow:

The Friday morning train has just left the Chama railyard as some of the volunteers take a break.

This is the frame made to hold the loud speaker equipment for the "Cinder Bear" rider gon; talk about overkill! That frame should outlast the car!

This is one of the three old gates that will be replaced at the stock pens later this summer. The old hinges will be reused on the new gate. Carpentry Shop TL Len Jones built three new gates and will use the old metal hinges from the three old gates being replaced. The gate in this picture was used as a pattern for the three new gates.

Car #3422 obviously needs a new roof walk as the old one is in the process of falling off of the roof!

TL Don Bayer and Joe Kanocz take down some of the scaffolding that has been used on RPO #054. The picture also shows metal sheeting that has been screwed on securely to the side of the car, one plain and one has been given a coat of primer. The sheet metal was installed by the railroad to keep baggage and mail carts from tearing up the wood siding on the car.

This photo shows metal sheeting and how many screws were used to fasten it.

Joe Kanocz and TL Don Bayer loosen a truss rod.

Fred, I haven't heard. Not sure if it will be the Friends or the RR? I'm sure it will be painted before the first Cinder Bear train. Yes, the Bristow team did a great job!

Wow, the amount of work that has been done in two weeks is amazing! Just watching the 053 cook car going from being a 'convertible' to a genuine roof in just two weeks is incredible. The woodworking skills of Craig McMullen and his teams is great! Well done to all, and I hope you guys don't finish 'everything' before we show up in session E. ;-)

Yes Thank you both for the quick uploads. Mighty nice to see what happened almost the same time it did.
