WORK SESSION A - Friday, May 24, 2013

Unread postby Ted Smith » Fri May 24, 2013 7:54 pm

It's been a great starting Work Session! The thirty-nine volunteers for Work Session A have worked hard and enjoyed the friendship of the last week. Many of them will be staying for Work Session B which will start Monday, May 27. It may be Memorial Day, but we can guarantee that the Friends' volunteers will be ready to go to work early that day, picking up where Session A volunteers left off!

Here's the photos:
002.JPG
Dr. Alan Robson and Dr. Druby Herbert, our New Orleans volunteers, load an old deck plank. Team Leader Ron Lira is in red, and Marshall Smith is on the tractor!

Beautiful new Tuscany red paint job with new decals, as well! READY FOR PRIME TIME, SATURDAY, MAY 25TH!
008.JPG
The Chama Depot deck is finished! Team Leader Ron Lira and Drs. Robson and Herbert replaced a total of 71 planks, plus other repairs!
014.JPG
Team Leader Clyde Putnam (Cinder Bear gondola) holds wrench on the top of a bolt. Marshall Smith has re-threaded the bolt with a die threader.
017.JPG
Marshall Smith talks to a German couple who wanted to know who all of the workers were? They probably asked because of the age of the Friends' group members! Tim Bristow is in the background.
018.JPG
Marshall Smith airs up a front tire on the Friends' Kubota tractor. Spero Bettalico waits to return the compressor to the Friends' Paint Car.
021.JPG
Dan Sandt, Brooks Wilson and Team Leader Clyde Putman position the trucks in place as the railroad fork lift is on the way.
026.JPG
Ron Lira and Dan Sandt remove cribbing as the fork lift has raised the end of the gondola. Team Leader Clyde Putman is ready to remoe more cribbing.
027.JPG
Trucks have been positioned and ready for the gondola to be lowered.
028.JPG
Team Leader Clyde Putman gives hand signal to lower the gondola onto the trucks.

When Art Randall retired from doing trucks and running gear Clyde Putman (who worked on Art's team) took over, and did he hit the ground running. The amount of work those guys crank out each work session is amazing!
