7/14/2021 DOUBLE HEADER

Unread postby Jack Spencer » Wed Jul 14, 2021 7:27 am

Today a double header is scheduled!! Yay!!
Kicking things off, here is one of the strangest movements I have ever seen at the C&TS: 484 & 487 backing down the main together. Would love to know the reason why.

OK, now the engines have separated with 484 at the coal dock while 487 is waiting for its turn.

The fact that there is a double header today raises an interesting question. I am not sure of the reason why, but I am guessing either 489 needs to come to Chama for a boiler wash or the rails are slippery, or maybe because of extra demand. But there is an Engineer/Fireman school starting tomorrow, and possibly only one engine will be available, if the former is the reason for this doubleheader.

Well, there is the explanation, 10 coaches require double header so guess we see it the helper comes back around 1.

Yep, 487 is back in Chama, so either it or 484 will do the school tomorrow.

And just within the last 15 mins, or so, the North Cam is down. 487 is at the pit getting her fire cleaned. Also looks like it has rained.
