If the display of a powerful locomotive noisly breaking trail through the snow wakes you on a Saturday morning, then you will enjoy Roger's
video showing #489 struggling to reach Cumbres Pass in the middle of winter.

The beginning of Opening day 2017 heats up as the locomotives start building steam pressure.

Sharon provides a screenshot of the 2017 opening day crowd mulling about the Chama Depot prior to departure.

The opening day train is seen approaching the tipple under full steam.

The coaling tipple at Chama is an icon in narrow gauge railroading.

The opening day train #215 has brought its excited passengers home.

As you enjoy the repost of my opening day shots, remember its 2 weeks until the Christmas weekend trains in Chama and our last look at active steam until next May. As usual, I will be recording the entire days activities and posting a composite video of each day once its over.

The annual opening of the C&TSR season occurs in proximity to Memorial Day.

The season opening was Sunday, May 28, 2017. Looking closely you will see the raising of our flag
and the crowd saluting, and standing to honor our fallen military service personnel.
