Morning preparations: Student train and regular train
I am wondering as I look at the video and stills of the prep on 463 if either the mentors or hostlers did it this morning instead of the students?
Also note there is frost on the ties this morning in Chama.

The passengers have been bused down from Cumbres based on the arrival of 2 buses and a lot of people milling about the depot after this. Do not have a clue as to what is going on. Maybe the student train is in trouble west of the pass.
I was having a brain freeze, they now offer people the chance to detrain at Cumbres and ride down in the bus instead of taking the train down.
Noticed earlier that the coach that was taken up there yesterday by the students was gone. Don't know if today's student train got it or 216 picked it up.

The student train is coming in now, hear it whistling for 17. They made it to Cumbres and back without issue, so no idea on what is happening to 215.

Arrival of the tardy train 216: 489 and cars
There are still a lot of cars in the lot so wonder if some folks stayed with the train?
Will have the video of the arrival as well as the student train later this evening.

Too bad we don't have our 'on the train reporter' Larry to fill us in on what caused the delay.

My thoughts, and this is not based on any facts, they had to, for some reason, cut off that one older coach. Since the train had crossed 17 and was probably at the spout, they had to shove the whole train back across 17 before they could cut this coach away since the train was fouling the switches. Once back east of 17, the crew could cut the coach away and place it on the siding, then come back to the train and leave. This took time.

New information: Those buses that I saw were bringing a large tour group down from Cumbres. There were a lot of passengers on today's train which slowed things down as well as the switching at Cumbres.
