The train got underway from the depot almost 5 minutes early, then made a water stop before leaving Chama.

Nope, no flags on the locomotive or bunting on the New Mexico. Maybe tonight on the 4th of July train.

Well tonight we have the sunset train up to Cumbres Pass for a dinner and return to watch the town fireworks. Right now its rain in Chama, which they need badly. The 487 is headed out from the house so probably the locomotive to take the train up and back.

Fourth of July dinner train: 487 and 7 cars

I am going to have my recording running to try to capture the return to Chama after dark.

The dinner train returns with 9 cars since 2 additional open gons were add to the back while at Cumbres. Note the south tipple cam went to black and white just after the last cars came into view.


Now the fireworks, the town of Chama puts on a show ever year which last about an hour. This is a sample of the display, sorry in black and white due to the cams having switched. At the end the train returns to the depot with the display still going on in the background.
