Departure of the geese and final preparations of train 215:
484 has brought the extra coaches out on the main as we see 489 doing a blow down.

Goose 5 has come out and 489 is backing down the main to the coal lead switch.

Goose 7 is now coming by the stopped 489 as Goose 5 is by the coal dock.

Goose 7 is by the wood shop as 5 is stopped waiting for it.

I can see from Larry G.'s shots that they were sanding the locomotive. Brings up the question, where are those bags of sand stored?

Jason, I find it interesting that the cam's splash screens have not updated for 3 days.

The sand is kept in the left side (from camera view) of the old roundhouse where the forklift parks. It has a pallet of sand on the forks.

I think Larry posted a pic of that. Now just try to find it!!!!

I remember seeing a shot of the empty, large bags that they were using. Now they are back to the smaller 50 lb or lighter bags. One shot we have of them loading the sand dome, the bags were in the bucket of a loader and they were tossing them over to the guy on the locomotive.

That's the size bags they are useing again now Jeff, yes - see this shot of sand going into 315 earlier. They were sanding at the shop for a long time, and would use the huge bags on pallets that were lifted to the locomotive by the forklift -- picture of those are in the Larry Gibson day 2 or 3 files, I think.

315 returned to Chama at 10:15 this evening, just as another heavy rain shower hit.

Videos of the day --

Goose 5 and Goose 7 depart Chama heading for Antonito today. Lots of locomotive activity as well, as a doubleheader will leave Chama on the 216.



Train 216 departs Chama with a doubleheader, 484 is the road locomotive and 489 is the helper.

Finally got to completing the days videos - sorry things so late this week, lots happening as you know!!

315 makes her first moves in Chama after being put back together with her tender, and steam building all afternoon.



215 Arrival - train was quite late, there was some kind of issue with a locomotive, but all is well at the end of the day.



315 - the little engine that could - chugs out of Chama with a six car freight. Probably close to max weight being pulled by this little locomotive.
