You beat me to it today Mike! - Thanks for the heads-up. 463 looks cold to me, so we'll see what happens today. Perhaps 487 will do some yard shuffling. Strong smoke now.

#487 emerges from the shop, visits the ash pit, gets a drink at the water tank and heads over to the coaling dock.

While taking on several scoops of coal from the bucket loader, the workers fixed the sticky bell, and did some work around the running gear. Interesting to watch, so I left it intact. After completing the work, #487 headed East out of the yard.

Do I possibly see smoke from 487 on the Cumbres South cam? Timing would be near right for when they left the yard.

Yes, I noticed 487 at the ash pit around 10:30 - took on a bucket (two?) of coal and then headed out.

Larry,

I thought the same thing. As you may have seen, that white plume was gone when the next pic was taken 10 minutes later.

It was interesting to see how quickly the weather changed shortly after that. Even if the grade crossing cam had caught the locomotive, it would have been difficult to see it.

Jeff - yes I did stay until the next cam refresh and the smoke was gone. Pretty sure that was 487 smoke.

Weather up there can change quickly, as we often see!!

Hearing a distant whistle now, think 487 is about to show up in the yard again!

I just popped in for a look for the first time and noticed a disturbing lack of whistles. I wonder what the deal is.

The C&T has always been very good employing whistles for all movements. Granted, this is the off-season. But, I've been there several times in the off-season when tradition was adhered to... religiously.

In any case, it's sure nice to see steam in the yard again. I need to figure out a way to make smell-o-vision work...

I wasn't recording depot cam today, but in reviewing the tipple cams, they also moved the rotary back further - note the position change. Will have video soon of the other moves.

#487 Returns after a trip up to, we assume, Cumbres and back. Final tune-ups, or check runs for crew I assume is the reason for the trip.

Several cars pulled from the swamp and spotted near the tipple. Some nice sound coming out of the swamp. Perhaps cars for the upcoming Friends work session.

Didn't hear the whistle once after they came back from the wye. Interesting indeed, usually they are very good with the signals.

If you can't invent smell-o-vision, invent the transporter - we can all go visit whenever we want to that way!!!!!

They are positioning those cars for the upcoming Friends work sessions. Isn't the trapped car the kitchen car?
