216 Left right on time this morning with 489 heading the train today. Before hooking up to the passenger cars 489 placed two caboose (cabeese?) on the track used normally for the Friends work session cars.

Right now 484 is behind the engine house doing something. I can just barely see movement through the trees. He must be moving a cold engine because he is working hard. Again this is based on vague sighting through the trees, but it may be that 484 moved 488 from the left to right stall.

I do believe that 488 is sitting in front of the right stall now. Now its gone for a drink curtesy of 484. Looks like 488 is not done for the year yet.

And now down by the water tank. Wonder if we'll see her hot again soon!

Considering they are filling the tender with water, that would be my guess.

Was going to change the "wonder if" to "looks like" but you beat me to it! With 463 scheduled for the charter in Antonito in just over a week, and two of the likely busiest weekends of the year coming, 488 may well be called on -- hopefully we'll see a doubleheader or two.

Here's a video of the locomotive moves behind the shop - not a lot to see, but nice sounds and some good smoke!

The parlor of 215 shows on the Cumbres cam at 1458. Can't grab the picture because I am working on photographs right now.

Switching is still going on at 6pm local time, but here's today's 216 and 215 videos. I have a lot of switching vids to put up here, will do so as I can.

With the lateness of all the days switching I didn't get to doing edits, but here's several of the switching moves of the day. Most of these are from 5-8 minutes long, basically in order of the moves by 484.

After bringing one of the stock cars into the swamp, 484 moved to the front of the shop and brought 488 down to the water tank and back.

After turning 215 at the wye, 487 continued yard switching moves - I may have missed something as I was doing other work and turned the cams off for a bit. Was surprised to see more switching. End game of all of this seemed to be getting all the various car types together - open gondola, tank cars, and box cars. They may be broken up in various tracks in the S yard, hard to tell what they did out of camera view.

09-24-15 Afternoon/evening yard switching continues.

After all that work just caught a nice golden hour view of 487 at the ash pit.

Wonder why they want to group the cars by type? This strikes me, an old psych RN, as a little bit OCD.

It could be that they have several charters coming up and want/need to be able to get at the best of each type of car without too much effort when the charters need to go out on the road.
