That's 2 days in a row the CDoT cam has cooperated. I was out all morning so didn't see departure either but it must have been the 489 leading.

It got it at the 11:01 frame by the next refresh (11:11) it was gone. Perhaps the 215 will time out too.

Workmen in the yard just before 2:00. Couldn't watch further. Hope someone gets a report on what's being done.

At one point I think I saw something parked on the engine house lead almost completely out of the shot. I could only see support struts like one of the loaders set up. Also did the cattle extra yesterday go to Antonito and stay there?

The stock extra must have come back late as the cars are in the yard today. Looked at Cumbres last night after dark lots of car headlights. Did not see it return after dark.

I just saw the cattle cars on the depot cam. I don't usually look at that on closely if there is no train in or switching being done, the cooling fan tends to drive me bonkers. 484 just got water and by the looks of the boiler casing had its fire cleaned also. Now back at the house.

Well, interesting watching in the yard. 484 just pulled what I think is 463 out of the right side of the house and has now shoved It into the left side. This is interesting since I thought the 488 was in the left side and there is not enough room in there for 2 locomotives with tenders. Also a large 18 wheel flatbed has pulled in front of the engine house with a tarp covered load. To go with that a pickup has arrived with a speeder on a trailer and is unloading on the main. Once the tarp came off there were white stacks of something being unloaded now. A delivery of sand maybe? Shot of the speeder that was just unloaded and the flatbed truck. For now the speeder is parked by the round house.

My guess would be sand.

And, the CDOT cam got a few cars of the 215 today, too.

Nice, twice in one day. I don't know what my issue is but my computer will not show the Cumbres cams and I even went to the CDoT website. Just to expand on this, I do see LaManga and Antonito.

Well I missed the arrival of 215 but 489 is doing some yard work after spinning the passenger consist. Right now it has pulled the stock extra consist out then put it back into south yard 1, as counted from the main. They dropped off the rider gon and 2 cabeese then went up the main and backed down the engine house lead into the swamp furthest away from the engine house and dropped the tank car. I had noted that one car had a flat wheel when they were headed to the swamp and none on the way back. Guess that is why the tank car is now in the swamp.

Update: The 5 stock cars are back on south yard 1 coupled to the rider gon and 487 is headed to the house.

Here's some of today's video - I'll work overnight on editing some of the other things that happened today. (Just don't tell my boss I work on webcam stuff at work! ;-)

09-21-15 Early morning visit from 3 of our four legged friends. Perhaps the same that were in the yard foraging by the coal dock the night before.

Sharon to answer your comment above yes it was a loader on the engine house lead earlier, workers doing a lot of banging out of camera site - guessing track work of some kind. They seemed to be down past the water tank working earlier, perhaps around one of the switches down there.

The stock car train came back in sometime after 9:30 local last night, I was recording until then - but figured they had gone to Antonito, obviously I was wrong - I was surprised to see the cars in the yard this morning.

The 18 wheeler seen earlier to me definitely had pallets of sand on it, looks like a good load for the winter - and perhaps into next season. First time I've seen it brought by truck, they've brought in a pallet or two at a time in a pickup to now.

I'll work on a summary video overnight, should have it up by morning - if all goes well.

Thanks to all for the coverage today.

Sharon,
I often have the same problem. At various times throughout the day I often can only get a picture from some but not all of the cams. I have tried refreshing, rebooting, etc., to no avail.

I think this is normal ops for these cameras. Once in a while they just don't work -- I too have the same issue of sometimes getting one or the other of the cams not showing. I guess we need to be happy we have them at all, but of course if they are down when a train should be in view it's frustrating. I think we all need to petition CDOT to put a streaming cam at Cumbres though!!!!!

A very roughly edited version of this afternoon's switching. Sharon I sure see what you mean by a flat spotted wheel - that was loud!!!

Here's a summery of the other activities discussed above. 484 moves 463 from the right to the left side of the shop. Sand arrives on a semi and is unloaded, another speeder arrives on the back of a trailer and is spotted next to the roundhouse. While all this was going on (not shown on the video) a crew was working on the shop track just out of camera sight on the North side. Busy day at the old train yard!!!

09-21-15 Yard Activities - Run time on this one is about 15:30
