Looks like they have gotten 489 where they want it and plan to use it on 216 today.

The CDOT caught another one today.

The westbound charter arrives at Cumbres.

The clock should read 14:18:13.

The charter arrives in Chama.

Looks like she came back with an additional car on the end.

Shortly after the freight extra heads to the wye, 488 brings in the 215.

Did you catch that deer crossing the tracks just ahead of the approaching train? I don't even think the photographers noticed. Must be heading over to Roger's hotel for free handouts.

Hi Farol.

Yes. That deer made it hard for me to decide when to grab that pic. I ended up waiting too long, so I went with that double grab.

I'm seeing a lot of them on the cams lately. Hopefully, Larry S. got it on video. I'd love to see that again.

Very cool that you knew where the deer might be heading. One of these years, I need to get out there and see the place in person. Larry G. said he'd pay for the gas if I picked him up on the way.

Oh...this is kind of interesting. The K-36 did the switching instead of the "mudhen".....at least....the last part of it. I wondered if this was due to switching "logistics" or if they decided that 463 had already worked hard enough today.

Deer is captured, looks like I got good video all day today - just got home, will be working it shortly and posting soon. I'll make sure I include the deer crossing.

I've seen a single deer quite often lately, as we all have - wondering if it's the same one that just like hanging around the area. Nice to see the wildlife in the yard.

Will try to get this all onto video, but what was interesting while reviewing, is that 463 took it's train down to the wye, then after 488 brought in 215 they left the passenger cars at the depot and went down to the wye just the locomotive. 463 came up the "back" side and went right to the ash pit. You could tell 488 was moving by the wye, but then came back to get the 215 cars, which were then turned normally. Then 488 went back to the wye the "back" way, and picked up the charter trains cars. Pretty interesting and unusual way to turn the two trains.

Here's and edited version of all the yard moves after 215 arrived. Description is a couple posts above, some footage sped up to fit it into less time.

Was gone for most of the day and missed out. Thanks to all who put this thread together as it allowed me to review the day that otherwise would have been missed.

Larry Sullivan - Glad you captured that photo of the deer that I saw live! I think we/or whomever, should get that in a photo - post it in a upcoming Newsletter, or something! It is a classic shot! A photographer line-up, but they are not paying attention as to what is going on behind their backs! And, too, being with just one deer, it is possible this is a friendly one who hangs around looking for free handouts. I believe usually one sees deer in pairs, at least.

Thanks Farol! I agree it made for an interesting shot, glad I could capture it for you. I feel the resolution on the camera screen caps we do would not be good enough to actually print in anything, would have to ask Rich Murray on that one as he takes care of the Dispatch, but in general to print something it needs much higher resolution.

Perhaps one day I'll do a little wildlife in the yard compilation video - if I do, I can use that one as the lead in!

I was thinking of the "Dispatch" newsletter, but with today's technology, it is amazing sometimes what can be done. I like your idea of "Wildlife in the Chama Yard" idea of a video. Keep up the good work!
