I thought 487 would stop at the north end of the yard and head back towards the engine house, but she didn't.

She kept going and headed out of the yard.

I wondered how far she would go, given the timing of the 215, and she didn't go far. She returned fairly quickly, went right past the ash pit, and went back to where she has been sitting all day: in front of the door on the eastern side of the engine house.

It is really nice to see the 487 out and about and hopefully she will be in the rotation starting this weekend.

484 is at the coaling dock and there is no train tonight that I can remember reading about. Friends diner train perhaps?

With the 215 arriving there are 3 hot locos on the move in the yard. Freshly shopped 487 gleams at the ashpit as 484 moves down to the depot from the coal dock. After 488 returns from the wye with the coaches 484 awaits duty. After 488 cuts off and heads for service 484 moves up to the the road loco on tonight's July Full Moon Special. Caboose 0306 is on the end featuring "out of era" marker!!! At 5:20 is off to a fun time in the high country!!!

Whatever is happening tonight, they have attached a caboose to the train before it is spun. Also a rain shower is now coming through.

Tonight's train is the Friends Moonlight and wine tasting train. Let's hope it clears for them to get the full moon shining (well just past full moon!).

Here's today's videos, quite a busy day in the yard today. Not shown in the video - early this morning 463 pulled 487 out of the engine house, then she went over and now is sitting in front of the roundhouse, looks cold so perhaps going to be there for a while. #489 pulled train 215 out of town, #487 sees her first movement under steam since her 1472 day inspection, #488 returns with train 215 and finally #484 takes the Friends Moonlight and Wine Tasting train out for a fun evening.

Lots of power tool sounds in some of the video as the Friends wrap up work session E today. A reminder that you can view pictures of the work session activities here - viewforum.php?f=122 . A sincere thank you to all that have provided those shots, it's a great archive of the work being done.

07-31-15 - #487 emerged from the shop this morning, and early this afternoon got her first short shakedown run. After coaling, they just went out for a short trip and returned to park in front of the engine house again. Great looking locomotive! The video runs about 16 minutes, I will do a shorter version as part of a recap later.

07-31-15 Train 215 Returns, in the North cam shot we see 487 at the ash pit, 484 also adding a caboose onto the back of 215's train, for tonight's Friends special train.

07-31-15 Friends special Moonlight and Wine Tasting train departs. I'll attempt to add in the return later, just depends how busy I am at work if I can capture it.

Once again a thank you to all for the coverage of the day.

I loved seeing the cut sheet metal out there this week, especially when I learned it was for the tipple.

There were some fun sounds when the 487 was moving. It sounded like a transmission grinding itself to bits, but it was some cool person (or people) on a power saw.

Fun day. And, I guess it isn't over, yet.

I'm at work, so can't watch constantly - figured I'd start watching right at 11:45, and train was already in. That's what you get with an on time railroad!!!
