Looks like a wonderful August 1st in Chama for a ride and also saw smoke on the Antonito cam.

216 actually stopped by the coaling tower after pulling from the station, waited a minute or so and moved on.

I wondered what that stop was for, too.

And, now I am wondering about the sunset extra. It would be cool if 487 got that job today. I will be looking forward to seeing who goes to the coaling area before the 215 comes in.

Well 484 is still in Chama since 488 was yesterday's 215 engine.

It seems to be raining every afternoon here lately. It is already raining in Cumbres and looks like headed to Chama now.

One way to get 487 out on the road would be as helper on double header.

Looks like the 215 may be a few minutes late...and with a little surprise on the end.

You know if I was riding the parlor and they tacked a caboose on behind, I would not be a happy camper since I like riding the platform and looking behind the train.

Yes.....I should have pointed out the clock thing.

I have noticed that when the 215 is at Cumbres after 15:00, she usually arrives a few minutes late.

Anyway, that clock will be correct during the off-season....maybe.

And, yes. They put a caboose in front of the first coach on a 216 a while back. I thought that was considerate. When I finally get to ride that railroad, I plan to spend most of my time in the gon, but I'd love to be on that back porch, too.

I like the platform of the parlor, it gives an unobstructed view to the rear as well as good viewing off the sides. The open gon is side only. There is nothing like the thrill of looking down into Toltec Gorge from that platform with nothing but that slim railing between you and the view.

I love the side by side shot. I'm sure some lucky people are taking this shot "up close and personal".

Today's videos - sorry no 215 today, had a flash plugin crash so a few hours of nothing but black screens. Thanks to Sharon for getting the stills on the return, I also like the duel screen look. I've thought of doing that for the videos, not sure how it would look on some of the devices folks use. Perhaps I'll do a test sometime and get feedback. Hard to believe that we're already at August 1st, and roughly half way through the season.

08-01-15 Sunset Extra Train heads out and it looks like the weather is clearing a bit. Train stops on the way out to drop a caboose on the track next to the main.

Well the riders on the Sunset train got some "rare mileage" under their belts and most probably did not even realize it.
