Question

I posted yesterday, using my real name. My post was polite & relevant. It was there yesterday & today has been deleted. I am a longtime Friends member, but if you run this board like it's in China or some other totalitarian vountry, I'll reconsider at membership renewal time.

My question way regarding Jason's kurt reply to fandango on the 256 thread. Why does this board complain about someone posting under an alias while letting them post under an alias? And why was MY post deleted?

It was decided when the forum was built last year that all posters must use their full name primarily so that no one can hide behind an alias. We want everything out in the open.

My reply yesterday was curt because, frankly, I'm human and I was having a bad day. The policy on aliases is clearly posted and it annoyed me that the first post in the new forum violated that request.

I allowed the post through, despite the alias, because it was a good question and I want this new forum to succeed. The Board of Directors is trying very hard to show that the Friends are, indeed, an open organization with nothing to hide. I felt that censoring the first question to be asked because of the alias rule was a bit harsh. So, I let it slide with the warning.

You have my apology that your feelings were hurt.
