Wild Horses

After shooting at Quackers on our way back home we did a detour to try and find a band of wild horses I knew about, YUP!!! we found them.

The New Mexico ones look better than our Southern Oregon / Northern California ones. The pix were taken just a few miles north of Antonito. I was amazed at how close we got to them. Russ

This is a truly bizarre animal. I've read they have incredible vision, something like a 10X binocular. They are extremely fast runners, according to this article they evolved the ability to escape from long extinct predators like the North American cheetah.

Common to see on the east side of the railroad, the steam locomotives are no match for them. I've seen them easily outrun the locos. It's quite a show. The antelopes, elk, deer, horses and even the cattle and other critters add to the C&TSRR riding experience.
