Russ489 from the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum has posted this tidbit for us to stew on.

" Earlier this week we switched out the aforementioned freight cars and the Spreader. 488 will have the plow off of 489 installed and will eventually make her way to Antonito for the winter."

I saw that, Tom. Very interesting... to say the least.

I may have to make a "run" up there if they're gonna sell tickets.

Most interesting since the 488 is in Antonito. Guess we will see the hospital train come over from there and the plow will be installed before it heads back.

Claude, Russ489 posted this in the Narrow Gauge Forum.

"The plan is for 488 to winter in Antonito to handle the Christmas trains and whatever else is needed. The other engines will be in Chama.

There are no 1472 day inspections scheduled this year. 484 and 463 are due for cap inspections along with the usual annual inspections on all the engines. 487 is slated for new tires and a complete running gear and spring rigging overhaul. 489 and 463 will get rod bushing work. 489 will also get some needed attention to the valves. These are only the highlights. There are always plenty of things that need attention and work. I plan on posting some updates throughout the winter as time permits
."

I asked the original question on the NGDF because I heard a rumor from a reliable source that Tim was thinking of a winter charter. And Russ' reply suggests it may actually be in the planning stages. It would be good for the Friends to make some decisions and get some dates on the calendar so that people can plan. There are other things going on this winter and folks may have to make some choices, and the earlier some dates are available for the C&TS the better the chances of more participants and a sell-out.
