The complexity of the old iron horse is amazing. This was high-tech in 1903. Of course it was different with compounding of the original design. The addition of superheating probably more than made up for conversion to a "simple" engine in terms of complexity.

The photos are great, but it will be a wonderful sight to see it in steam!

It is interesting to see the 'economy' brand firebox clamshell doors. John Coker told me once that the 315 group had to get a pattern made to cast new ones for their engine. Something like $10,000.00
