Thursday 7/27/17 Emuse

Unread postby Sharon Evans » Thu Jul 27, 2017 2:30 pm

Well today work continued on all fronts until early afternoon when the rains came again which slowed things down a bit. The poor paint crew had just primed box car 3537 which is the conversion from passenger box 202. They had painted the rider gon that can be seen on the south tipple cam twice now due to rain. Goose 5 went out about 8:30 am for its run over to Antonito. Not sure of its schedule at this point. Lunch today was the high point of the kitchen car crew, hamburgers cooked right here on their grill and severed with all the trimmings.

Sharon,

Now who would sever a poor hamburger? :)

Thanks for keeping us all in the loop!

So lets look at what was done on the conversion of the pbox to box car 3537.

The Ross brothers, Andy on the left and Ron with his back to the camera, begin to install the wood sheathing into the interior of the car

On Thursday the team working on the conversion got a new set of workers in Kevin Bobb and his son Spencer

Robert, with his back to us, assists Don Bayer in installing the door guide rail on the right side of the car

Across the main on the MOW bunk car things were hopping.

After having to remove the windows while the car was painted and, then repainting the window frames to match the car colour, the crew re installs them on the car. That is Dr. McMullen closest to us with Walter and Gus putting the window up.

Dr. McMullen is working on installing one of the benches which will line the walls of the car for riders

A view of the finished benches at the A end of the car. That is Gus at the B end working on those benches.

This is the stove that will end up in the bunk car as it looks coming out of the storage container where it had sat for who knows how long
