Coal Boards on the sides of tenders

Unread postby Martyn Chapman » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:52 am

Hi Folks
I've seen some photos (can't recall the site) of coal boards being used on the sides of tenders to increase the amount coal carried. Was this a common practice or was it down to individual crews?

regards

Martyn

On the K-36's this became standard during the D&RGW days and you can also see this practice with the C class, and K-27, 28's. More coal capacity means less stops!
