Sharon's uncommonly good Chama adventure 6 The end

Unread postby Sharon Evans » Wed Aug 10, 2016 7:31 pm

On 8/2/16 I departed Chama for the final time this year. I had decided to head over to Antonito on my way since I had one more video location I wanted to shoot of 463 leaving town. I knew it was a 'little' out of the way since I was headed south to I40, but what the hay, it was only time. Here are the last photographs from the trip. Now I have further photographs taken during the work week of trains leaving Chama that I will post tomorrow, also I still have to process the photographs from the actual workweek and get them uploaded to the Friend's work section.
From my location at the crossing of County road E5 and the tracks there was little to see except high desert.

463 leads train 215 out of Antonito as it approaches the E5 crossing.

463 comes over the crossing.

Train 215 is now out in the high desert headed toward the first big climb up to Lava.

As I was breaking down my equipment, I notices something else coming out of Antonito and it turns out to be what I think is a tamper.

Finally as I am driving down US285 toward Santa Fe and on to I40, I spotted this nice water tank at Tres Picdras. I worn remnant of the long gone Chili line.

Sharon,
Excellent shot - it does not look like this is going to be fully erect too much longer - hope I am wrong about that.

I would hope the little village might do something to stabilize it for now.
