Terry Woolsey - Thank You

Unread postby Jason Rose » Fri May 01, 2015 8:28 am

Terry, I see you have an account here and I hope you see this.

Your photo for May in the Friend's 2015 calendar is outstanding! The calendar is hanging above my desk at work and I glance up frequently at it.

Thank you, sir. Nicely done.

Terry's photo stood out from many fantastic photos submitted. To make it to the twelve final selections it had to be a cut above.
There are many really good 'picture takers' in our organization and I'm thinking that I might start posting copies of those photos that didn't make it to the calendar, on the pages of the Dispatch. What do you think?

Love that idea Rich - I've enjoyed many pictures from the various calendars, the more the merrier I think. This particular photo of Terry's seems very rare, and an excellent one. Thanks to all that contribute -- one day I hope to get my own pics in on the competition!

Thank you all for the compliments.
This was taken during an Engineering Special for three of the trainees.
We were headed eastbound so 488 coming out of the tunnel was not possible.
So we reversed it and shot the photos from the inside.
The photo was a Photoshop product cut into two layers because of the
contrast between engine, sky & tunnel.
The tunnel layer had to be enhanced & lightened to bring out the texture.
The sky had to be darkened to bring out the blue.
And some minor work on the rail & rock to show the shadow line.
That's the story behind the photo, enjoy
All the photos in the calendar are really great.

I also agree, Rich.
I wonder if it would be possible to post photos from the Dorman Collection, maybe once a week?

Steve, I'll have to look into that.
Two years ago the annual calendar was all Dorman and we plan to do that again in a year or two. Also every Dispatch has one Dorman photo on the last page.
